Ingredients: 100% hand-rendered tallow, lye (see link below for full details).

Tallow is so similar to the sebum produced by our skin that in Latin, “tallow” translates to “sebum.” So this soap is safe and nourishing for all skin types, including babies and the elderly​. It's also great for shaving, hair washing (at least according to my husband and son, who have used nothing else for 13+ years), and pets.

The tallow comes from grass-fed cattle we raise ourselves in a chemical-free grazing system that cares for our ecology and sequesters carbon in the soil.

This is soap as our grandparents and great-grandparents made it, long before there were supermarkets. The only difference is that we now have precise ways of measuring the ingredients.

Technically, the ingredients in this soap are "soap," and "tallow." But that can be a bit confusing since the product itself is called soap - so feel free to read the whole story  here, including all the details about:

  • how we care for our cattle (tallow, the main ingredient in our soap, comes from cattle)
  • how we make our soap (the process includes the use of a caustic and water solution called lye, which combine with the tallow during a long curing time to form soap)
  • why and how the final product has ONLY soap and a small percentage of tallow in it (to moisturize and nourish your skin), nothing else

The soap comes in single bars as shown in the image (they may be round, oval, or square) weighing at least 70 grams.
