Thanks for commenting, Brett. If you can’t get tincture immediately then strong yarrow tea, even from dried herb (fresh would be better), might be better than nothing while you wait. I used yarrow to stop a glass cut on my hand. I didn’t chew it though. I didn’t think of doing that. Just fresh leaves on the wound, stopped bleeding quickly.
I’m keen to try the yarrow tincture for receding gums.

What a truly magical and highly useful plant, not to mention beautiful! I first learnt about Yarrow after researching natural remedies for high blood pressure and now have quite a large amount growing in different areas of my garden. I am wanting to make a tincture, however I am yet to source some 100 proof alcohol locally. So, in the meantime, I will buy some to keep in the bathroom for the family to use

I’m glad its helpful, Cathy. Remember while you’re waiting to be able to make your own tincture, you can use yarrow tea made from dried herbs which you can order online or your local healthfood store may have it.

I think that for most applications dried yarrow would be less potent than fresh, and for some applications tincture would be better than tea, but you have to start where you can!

And if you have an acute oral health issue and you need yarrow’s help NOW, try chewing a very small sprig of your fresh herb from the garden and then swishing. Thanks so much for commenting!

I bought a couple of yarrow plants after I read your first article on yarrow, and the article is much improved with the pictures. Now, I’m inspired to make some tincture, but 100 proof vodka isn’t easy to come by – had to order some online. Looks like I’m going to have to grow a lot more plants! Thanks heaps.
