Real food is more expensive than supermarket food if you measure only in dollars. But to measure something you have to isolate it from the other things it relates to, which reduces it to a limp, disconnected copy of itself. Real food that’s still connected to the rest of life provides us with some kinds of nourishment that supermarket food can’t.
